Use 7 Days to Get Down One Day of Calories

The countdown is on and you can strategically begin to prepare for the food & drink related traditions of the upcoming Holiday/Event with friends & family while working to equalize, minimize or even limit the impact of weight gains.

TIP:Reduce your overall caloric intake by 15% a day for the 7 days prior to the Holiday/Event celebration. By doing so, you will be down 105% of the regular calories you would have consumed by the Holiday/Event. This will help to balance your overall calorie consumption and will help you to better manage your weight before and even after the Holiday/Event.

  1. 7 Days Prior – Down 15% of regular calorie consumption
  2. 6 Days Prior – Down 30% of regular calorie consumption
  3. 5 Days Prior – Down 45% of regular calorie consumption
  4. 4 Days Prior – Down 60% of regular calorie consumption
  5. 3 Days Prior – Down 75% of regular calorie consumption
  6. 2 Days Prior – Down 90% of regular calorie consumption
  7. 1 Days Prior – Down 105% of regular calorie consumption
  8. Enjoy your Holiday/Event with or without restrictions
  9. Get back to normal the next day

If you regularly consume 2,000 calories a day, your goal will be to consume about 1,700 calories daily to build a deficit of one entire day of calories which were not consumed by day 7 of this strategy.

Day Regular Calories Reduced Calories Difference to Buffer Holiday/Event
1 2000 1700 300
2 4000 3400 600
3 6000 5100 900
4 8000 6800 1200
5 10000 8500 1500
6 12000 10200 1800
7 14000 11900 2100

Enjoy the Holiday/Event Traditions with our without restrictions:  With this strategy, you start Holiday/Event being down 105% of the regular calories you would have regularly consumed.  Based on the above table, you will be down 2,100 calories at the start of the Holiday/Event.  That is a little more than an entire day worth of calories but you must still not over do it on your event day. Plan and work to win on purpose. Do it because you can.
